Renaissance KL

Renaissance KL

Hubby and I checked into Reneissance KL sometime in February this year. My mother had a membership that entitles some vouchers. We used one of the vouchers that offers an RM260 nett rate for a night stay, inclusive of breakfast buffet for two.

Reneissance KL is one of the better hotels in the golden triangle. They are considered as a 5 star luxury hotel. hmm....not so sure about the Luxury part...but it is definately 5 star. Just abit worn-out thats all.

The Room
As you can see, the room was spacious. I just loveeee the kingsize bed. It was extremely comfy.
The room and furnitures were tastefully done and clean. Albeit a bit worn-out and old.
There was a working desk, but i do not remember if there were any free broadband or wifi for internet. TV channels were quite good. You can watch some movies fromVision4 or Astro HBO.
You get the usual coffee maker and fridge.

The Bathroom
The bathroom was quite lovely. A good size of bathtub for a good soak and a shower panel. The toilettries were sufficient. Though be warned that the bathroom floor can be quite slippery. I almost slipped!! and the hubby too!

Amenities
What i love about Renaissance must be the swimming pool! Though it was only a nights stay, we did manage to take a dip at the pool the following day, before we check-out at noon. I really like the pool because it is of a good size and i had a nice swim. Other than that, they have a gym....and also many restaurants to dine at within the hotel.
I've probably tried all the buffets available there and i must say all of them are pretty good. Especially Sagano, if you like japanese food. The buffet spread isn't extensive but the sashimi was very fresh!! It is not cheap. Approx 100++ per head, but if you have membership, you're entitled for 50% if 2 person dine. However, the japanese buffet is only available on weekends.

The Location

The Location of Renaissance KL is really very convenient because it is situated at the heart of the city. Though it can be quite far to walk to the shopping places, but the monorail is just right infront of the hotel. We took a short walk to the monorail and hop down right smack infront of the shopping paradize, sungei wang, lot 10, Low yat plaza,....etc. Food and shopping are a plenty. Also, the must try are the arabian food like Tarbush....There are alot of those eateries around as you walk along sg.wang.

Overall, we really enjoyed and like our stay over at Renaissance KL. For the price of RM260 nett inclusive of buffet breakfast for 2 is definately worth the penny.

Impiana KLCC hotel & Spa

Impiana KLCC hotel & Spa, KL

My most recent stay must be at the Impiana KLCC hotel & Spa, KLCC couple of weeks ago.
It was the week after raya, Since both of us haven't taken a break for a long time, we decided that this is the right time to take a day off to relax. Since its the week after raya, many people are still on leave and so before our lives get busy again, its a good time to recharge since we did not go anywhere during the raya holiday.

Parking
We checked in to Impiana KLCC hotel & Spa around 2pm that day. Suprisingly to me, there were quite a number of guests at the lobby and at the check-in line too. The lobby isn't very big but its clean and new. The ground staffs were pretty friendly. We parked our car at the carpark. Now....i really don't like the carpark at all. It is very tiny, with very limited space to manuver the car. The parking is limited. And worst is there is no carpark lift. We had to walk from 2nd floor down to the groundfloor and walk to the lobby across. Though it is not very far, walking down the stairs can be quite a task for a 6 month pregnant me! phew..... We did not have a huge luggage to carry thus it was ok for us. But i can't imagine myself walking up n down the carpark stairs if we were to park at a higher floor. Parking is free if you are a guest. Just make sure you get the ticket stamped before you head out.

Check-In
At the check-in counter. I booked our room through the Internet as it is much cheaper. I booked the cheapest, which is the Superior room. I also specifically chose a non-smoking floor. And at the notes: i put, higher floor preferably.
But to my dismay, upon check-in They told me they ran out of Superior room on the non-smoking floor. Which i wonder why i had to state all my preferences while booking since i wont get any of those ive requested.

The lady offered a complimentary upgrade to the Delux room, which cost more.....but I wasn't trilled...... Because The delux room is actually just the same as the Superior. But Delux room you can have Twinbeds or Kingsize bed. Thats why when i booked the room, i chose the Superior, because i wanted the Queen bed. Aiyaa we are a couple n we want to sleep together wat......I would have prefered the Kingsize bed but the delux was more expensive by about RM30. I wouldn't mind if she upgraded me to the Kingsize bed delux room. But that was not the case, it was either i take the twinbed.....or....hmm.....basically i have no other options at all.
If i insisted on the Superior, id have to wait like a couple of hours....and even then, it would be on the smoking floor. :(
NOW DO I HAVE A CHOICE??? no right???? So twinbed it is...... At this point, it didn't really matter to me since we are not newlyweds....haha..... imagine wat a disappointment if this was to be a honeymoon randevous.

The Room

I guess, the twinbed wasn't that bad...it was placed side by side. And its quite big. I really like the room as it looks and smells brand new. No sign of age. The bed was very comfortable. And, you can choose the type of pillow you like. We didn't bother about that, we just sleep on what was given. The TV chanels were quite good. Some astro chanels. But no vision4. The working desk is very nicely done and spacious, very good for businessmen on a working trip.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was classy and tastefully done. It comes with a bathtub and complete set of toilettries apart from the norm....they have nail filers, toothbrush, shaver...etc. Which was good. (i always remember how Mr.G argued with the hotel manager at Berjaya Bkt tinggi bcos they weren't able to provide us with toothbrush! haha....)
We also have bathrobes, slippers.

Internet Access
One thing i like about Impiana is that it comes with FREE broadband.
They also have wifii around the lobby around. Mr.G brought along his laptop and no guessing who got more attention out of Mr.G.... darn laptops and internet.

Others

We went for dinner and some shopping over at KLCC in the evening. We just walked there. about 5-10mins walk. Very near. So after that, we came back and rest at the lobby. The live band was playing very nice oldies. It was relaxing and soothing. They were very good.

Breakfast the next day was inclusive for two. It was a considerable nice variety of buffet food. The dining place was quite large and spacious.
Breakfast was btwn 6.30am to 10.30am.

Summary:

I would recommend this hotel for those who:
1. Is on a business trip and having to attend events around KLCC. (plus points, good working desk, walking distance to KLCC, FREE broadband, ample food and nightspots nearby)
2. Wants to have a relaxing trip with SPA.
3. Wants to stay somewhere near KLCC to visit the mall or KL aquaria. Golden triangle is very near, can just take a short cab ride. KLCC is walking distance.

Rate Paid

I booked the room at RM229 ++ per night. Total came up to about RM269.
The rate i got is internet rate. If you were to call in, it would have been about 300++ or so.
You can check the rate via the online booking. Try to look for better deals while choosing the date because the price differs everyday. Sometimes the supierior can even go up to RM400++ on peak season. For the price i paid, i think its worth it for a 4star hotel.

My Hotel Stay

Hi!!

Wow....finally i setup this niche blog on My hotel stay experiences. You can call me Mrs.G. I'm such a hotel lover. I actually like to travel...but due to Mr.G's working schedule and commitments as well as my own too....we just cannot leave home long. Thus, whenever I feel the urge or need to go on a holiday, id just book into a local hotel to spend a night or two to relax. We have stayed in various hotels here in KL.

Usually, before i decide on which hotel to book, i'd look up some hotel reviews. And sometimes I do not get the details i needed, thus the idea of starting this blog, writing my personal reviews and opinion on the hotels that i've stayed before. Hopefully it will be useful for others like me. :)
Plus, it is a great way to keep a journal of my hotel stays.

Next up! My most recent hotel stay.....
